After switching to Kali 2.0 simply installing the guest additions image in VirtualBox no longer works. This guide is the easiest way I have found to make Kali go full screen after installation in VirtualBox.
Please NOTE: This document assumes that you already have Kali Linux installed and running in VirtualBox.
— Verify Kali official repos by searching web or linking below.
http://docs.kali.org/general-use/kali-linux-sources-list-repositories
#- Open terminal window
#- edit repos list
root@kali:~# leafpad /etc/apt/sources.list
#- delete all lines in file and replace with updated repos lists. (At time of this guide current repos are below:)
deb http://http.kali.org/kali kali-rolling main contrib non-free
deb-src http://http.kali.org/kali kali-rolling main contrib non-free
#- save file and close
#- update repos
root@kali:~# apt-get update && apt -y dist-upgrade
root@kali:~# reboot
#- install virtualbox guest
root@kali:~# apt-get -y install virtualbox-guest-x11
root@kali:~# reboot
#- Kali will now be Full screen once completely booted in VirtualBox
i use all that and stay d’not work

The guide has been updated. It needed a distribution upgrade to work.

You rock! I am new to Linux and all this VBox stuff. I spent like 2 hours trying 50 different things. This fixed it in one fail swoop!

Awesome. The guest additions include lots of performance enhancements other than just the full-screen thing. Great tip!
